Energy Industry

Belt Conveyor Fault Monitoring

Belt conveyors, widely used in industries such as mining, ports, and metallurgy, are typical large industrial equipment for material transportation. Distributed fiber optic sensing technology enables real-time fault monitoring of the entire length of belt conveyors, quickly locating and alarming for issues such as roller bearing eccentricity, axle deformation, cracks, bearing loosening or wear, ball drop, bracket loosening, and abnormal temperature. This timely detection and handling of abnormal conditions eliminate accident risks, reduce unexpected downtime and safety incidents, lower maintenance costs, and ensure safe operation.

Infrastructure Structural Health Monitoring

Vibration signals typically contain information about an object’s dynamic processes, which can reveal its movement and structural state. Using distributed fiber optic sensing technology to capture temperature and vibration/acoustic signals generated by moving objects allows for real-time acquisition of strain and damage information, enabling structural health monitoring. Depending on the type of object being monitored, structural health monitoring can be categorized into infrastructure structural health monitoring and large equipment structural health monitoring.

Oil and Gas Pipeline Health Monitoring

Oil and gas leaks caused by external damage in long-distance pipelines have long been a major concern for petroleum companies. External damage accounts for a significant proportion of oil and gas pipeline accidents in China, such as excavation activities above pipelines, drilling and tapping for oil (gas) theft, and attacks on pipelines.

Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Monitoring

Distributed fiber optic sensing technology is becoming a widely recognized tool in the oil and gas production logging industry. It enables the collection of high-resolution distributed acoustic and temperature data using optical fibers, efficiently gathering dynamic information on parameters such as flow throughout the production process with minimal or no human intervention.
